Miami, FL, April 24, 2018 — Leaders of the South Florida entrepreneurial ecosystem announced the launch of the Miami Chapter of TiE, a global organization which fosters entrepreneurship at the eMerge Americas 2018 conference. TiE Miami will serve the vibrant business communities in the three counties of MiamiDade, Broward and Palm Beach.

TiE is a global not for profit organization with 63 chapters in 17 countries. It is estimated that globally stakeholders of TiE have created cumulatively over $200 billion in wealth, in the communities they have operate in.

Speaking on the occasion of launching TiE Miami, Ms. Seema  Chaturvedi, its designated President noted, “Miami is the gateway to the world. Additionally, it has talent, ideas, enterprise and diversity. Through TiE Miami, we hope to contribute to Miami’s entrepreneurial eco-system while also connecting it to TiE’s global network of entrepreneurs.”

Anil Gajwani, a founding Charter Member, successful entrepreneur and a Miami native for over 30 years, noted, “TiE brings to bear a slew of resources including education and networking. The key aspect however is the mentorship program. An entrepreneur’s journey while exciting as it is, can be lonely. Having someone next to you who is a sounding board can turn out to be a tremendously valuable resource. TiE has built a network of mentors that provide just that. I am thrilled to see TiE come to Miami.”

A founding Charter Member of TiE Miami, Michael A. Finney, President & CEO of Miami-Dade Beacon Council stated, “I have known and worked with TiE entrepreneurs for over a decade. They bring a valuable global network and significant mentoring resources that can greatly impact a community’s economic development.’

Welcoming the announcement of TiE Miami’s launch, an early supporter of TiE Miami and a founding Charter Member, the founder of eMerge Americas and a prolific serial entrepreneur Mr. Manuel Medina, founder of Cyxtera Technologies, commented, ‘Miami has a burgeoning tech scene with a lot of innovation. Having close ties with India and a prestigious group of entrepreneurs is exactly what we were looking for in Miami. In eMerge Americas this year we have thousands of people coming from hundreds of countries to exchange ideas and we are very happy to have a TiE’s mentor platform to support young entrepreneurs.”

With its launch, TiE Miami also announced initiation of enrollment of its first mentoring cohort of 20 aspiring or early stage entrepreneur ‘mentees’ who will be aligned with Charter Members who are established entrepreneurs. The mentoring sessions will launch on May 15, 2018. Over the next 4 months, these Charter Member mentors will meet with the young mentees and provide guidance and real world advice.
